Rental Information

Hello!
Thank you for your interest in Milwaukee Kayak Company (MKC). We are excited to be open for another great season as we celebrate our 6th season on our rivers.

We are currently open for the season and offer kayak, canoe and standup paddleboard rentals downtown Milwaukee. When you paddle with us, you will be launching from our dock on the Milwaukee River and paddling on our rivers (not Lake Michigan).

Daily Rentals & Weekly Guided Tours:
We offer daily rentals and weekly guided tours. You must pre-register for our guided tours and can find the schedule on the “News & Events” page of our website. Keep in touch with us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram too.

All daily and tour rentals include a boat (kayak, canoe or paddleboard), life jacket and paddle. We have a limited supply of dry-bags on hand that you can borrow to protect your personal belongings.

Life jackets must be worn when near or on the water.

Daily Rentals are for up to 4 hours. You can return your boats whenever you’d like during those 4 hours – some paddlers stay out for an hour, some stay out for 4 hours – it’s all up to you!

Locations (Schlitz Park location opens Saturday, June 30th):
* MKC Main Location: Our main location is located in the Harbor District near Walkers Point. We are across the River from the Third Ward and across the street from Next Act Theater. We are a block from the Stone Creek/88.9 Radio Milwaukee studio.

*Schlitz Park Pop-Up: Our Schlitz Park location opens for the season on Saturday, June 30th. This location is open Saturdays & Sundays only thru the end of August. Schlitz Park is for walk-ups only (no reservations).

We advocate for our rivers and support local organizations that are doing great things for our city and watershed. When you paddle with us, you will be paddling on our rivers, not Lake Michigan.

Reservations (main location only):
We recommend making reservations for daily rentals to ensure boat availability (especially on the weekends). Please call us at (414) 301-2240. Making reservations helps us plan and ensure boat availability. When you call to make your reservation, please provide us with this information:

1) Name
2) Phone number
3) Date of rental
4) Time of arrival
5) How many kayaks (or canoes, paddleboards)

Rentals are for up to 4 hours. You can return your boats whenever you’d like during those 4 hours. Some people stay out for an hour, some stay out for 4 hours – it’s all up to you! If you think you’d like your boats for more than 4 hours, let’s chat when you call to make your reservation.

Payment:
Payment is due upon arrival. We do require a down-payment with a party of 8 or more people. See below.

Down-payment:
We require a down-payment with a party of 8 or more people at the time of reservation. This is how it works:
• $10 down-payment / each single kayak or paddleboard
• $15 down-payment / each tandem kayak or canoe

Upon arrival, we will deduct the $10 and/or $15 from each of the the boats you reserved. For example, if you reserved 8 single kayaks, we will require $80 down at time of reservation. Rentals are $35 each and so when you arrive and pay for your 8 kayaks, we will only charge you $25 each kayak VS $35. Likewise, tandem kayaks and canoes are $65 each so we will only charge you $50 at time of arrival.

Refundable down-payment:
If you cancel your reservation at least 24 hours before your scheduled arrival time, you will receive a full-refund of your down-payment.

If we are closed due to weather (or a different issue), and cannot send you out on our rivers at your scheduled date/time, you will receive a full-refund of your down-payment.

Non-Refundable down-payment:
If you do not show up for your reservation or cancel day of, you will not receive your down-payment back.
