MKC River Update 8/11

Hi Paddlers,

Hope you are staying safe and are managing everything ok with all the flooding in our area. We understand a lot of people’s homes and belongings have been soaked or flooded – we hope you have the help you need to cleanup and reorganize. If there’s anything we can do to help, please let us know.

We are safe here at MKC, and plan to stay closed these next few days as the river is very fast, high, dirty and filled with debris.

The Milwaukee River is over 100 miles long and all the water flows out to the Lake so as the debris continues to make its way down, it’s in our best interest to stay off the rivers.

Also, many establishments along the river lost docks (or they’re in need of repair) so accessibility is limited. Our Schlitz Park docks are no longer in place so we are scouting them out. Our main location docks are ok as well as Twisted Fisherman.

So with everything going on, we plan to be closed today (Monday) and tomorrow (Tuesday) and will probably cancel our Moonlight Paddle on Tuesday (bummer!).

We will also be canceling our Rise ‘N Shine Morning Paddle this Wednesday (sorry we love them too!) with hopes to have one this Friday morning.

We will continue to monitor river conditions and be in touch Tuesday evening and/or Wednesday morning with updates on re-opening for daily rentals, tours and if the Wednesday night MKE River Roundup will be taking place.

Thanks everyone for your calls, texts and messages. We hope you’re all ok too. Please reach out if we can be of help to you!

Keep in touch on our Facebook and Instagram pages with updates too.

See you soon!
